Rudy van Buren is a racing driver from Lelystad, The Netherlands.
After spending his early years winning titles and races in go-karts, he moved on to sim racing where he was equally as successful.
His victories in competitive sim racing championships convinced him to enter the McLaren F1 competition titled “World’s Fastest Gamer’. The prize was to become on of the teams official F1 simulator drivers.
Out of 30,000 applicants, he was one of the 12 to be picked for the two-week final held at McLaren HQ. After various tests and challenges, Rudy came out on top to become the World’s Fastest Gamer.
Rudy’s performance during the competition and in the simulator since has impressed McLaren so much that they have since given him the chance to race on of their championship winning cars at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Most recently he has been working with Formula 1 on their Pirelli Hot Laps feature, driving fans around the F1 circuits on race weekends.
Winner of McLaren F1 competition ‘World’s Fastest Gamer’ – beating 11 other finalists in a two week contest at McLaren HQ with the prize being a job as one of McLaren’s simulator drivers.
Competed in 2018 Race of Champions, racing against some of the best drivers in motorsport, beating Le Mans winner Timo Bernhard and McLaren reserve driver Lando Norris.
Took part in hill climb event, the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Raced in the McLaren M23, their 1974 World Championship winning F1 car.
